Joined international conferences FM&NT and NIBS 2022
As in previous years, NINa SH organizes the international nanotechnology conference NIBS 2022 (Nanotechnology and Innovation in the Baltic Sea Region) in cooperation with the University of Southern Denmark and Kaunas University. This year, the event will be hosted at the House of Science at the University of Latvia in Riga as a co-conference of “FM&NT” on July 04-06, 2022 in the city of Riga (Latvia).
The NIBS conference series offers an ideal opportunity to increase your visibility as a scientist, company or other stakeholder in the field of nanotechnology within the Baltic Sea region. Attendees from industry, academia and municipalities enter in a dialogue about the potential for interdisciplinary applications and new products from nanotechnology.
The FM&NT conference series bring together scientists, research staff, engineers, students as well as experts in a wide range of the most demanding application areas from research institutes, universities and related industrial companies, thus promoting international co-operation, stimulating research and innovation of various materials and technologies, which in future could become high-added value products and devices.
We believe that the joint conference will give new perspectives, collaboration opportunities and innovation ideas, that gain stronger value in eye-to-eye meetings. Therefore, joint conference FM&NT – NIBS 2022 is planned as an on-site event to be held in the citz of Riga at the House of Science of the University of Latvia. However, the FM&NT – NIBS 2022 will be organized responsibly regarding the epidemiological situation.

Exploring the clinical translation of Nanotechnology for diagnosis and therapeutics,
The application potential of nanotechnology ranges in the medical field from therapeutics to delivery and diagnostics. The North German Initiative Nanotechnology (NINa SH) and the Fraunhofer Center for Applied Nanotechnology IAP-CAN invite you to the industry workshop “Exploring the clinical translation of Nanotechnology for diagnosis and therapeutics”.
The event outlines the status of the use of nanotechnology in the medical field, reviewing some of the latest approaches. Current challenges and solutions in terms of synthesis, characterization, process optimization and clinical translation are discussed. This workshop features speakers with experience in different areas of nanomedicine and theranostics (including synthesis, characterization of nanoparticles formulation/process scale-up, nano-bio interface studies, clinical translation of nanomedicine, etc).
Date: August 18, 2022, 12.30 – 17.30 Uhr
Venue: Fraunhofer IAP Research division Center for Applied Nanotechnology CAN (Grindelallee 117, 20146 Hamburg)

Nanocar Race II - March 24th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
The Nanocar Race is the world’s smallest race, in which vehicles are molecules conducted by the tip of a STM microscope. The ultimate goal of this competition is to advance the development and manipulation of nanomachines capable of performing real work, such as carrying molecular charge.
Eight worldwide certified teams will compete on March 24th, 2022 at 11:00. The winner of the Nanocar Race II will be the team that manages to cover the maximum possible distance in a span of 24 hours.
All teams will drive their nanocars remotely from Toulouse (France), while physically the nanocars will be at the STM microscopes of each participating institution: Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies-IMDEA- in Nanoscience (Madrid), Center for Materials Physics (San Sebastian), Technische Universität (Dresden, Germany), University of Graz (Austria), University of Strasbourg (France), International Center for Materials Nanoarchitecture (Ibaraki, Japan), Ohio University (United States) and Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse, France).
